welcome note.
Hello! I’m Jade, a 30-something editor working in the interior design and architecture industry, with my eye on design but my head firmly in the clouds. And by clouds, I mean daydreaming in the fictional works of some of the world’s greatest film and television writing, producing and directing talents.
I’m a writer, editor, and a qualified script reader for film and television, having, over the years, read some incredible scripts and worked alongside some truly inspiring producers and creatives, reading my way through piles of potential filmic stories and getting a thrill every time my scrappy little brain could visualise a scene or setting as depicted in the words on the page.
I live in Coventry with my husband Chris and Beagle puppy, Baxter. Yes, he does look very similar to Cooper from The Fox and the Hound.
So why am I blogging? Well, my work and my personal passions and interests overlap so much that I started to see some potential for commentary and wondered if others agreed? Not The Director’s Chair is a culmination of thoughts and musings on design in film and television and, honestly, a sneaky little distraction from ever finishing my own script!
I have worked in magazine publishing for over 12 years and am very lucky to work in such a beautiful and creative industry as that of interior design and architecture. I am by no means a design professional, but I know some people who are and hopefully they’ll join me on the occasional design scene commentary, offering their insight and their own inspiration (NB to any designers reading this – please help, this could go horribly wrong otherwise!).
Aside from the aforementioned, I love baking, cooking, insane HIIT workouts that make me red in the face and sweaty, film, television, theatre, books, and, after getting married last October in an insanely beautiful hidden gem of a Manor House, have developed a serious addiction to William Morris fabrics, cushions, wallpapers, the list goes on…
Join me as I delve into some seriously stylish film and television sets.
